This place is so odd. The outside is lined with huge, covered swinging picnic tables which look inviting to sit in, and the inside is a dingy dive bar. Had we known that this place was more bar than grille we wouldn't have stayed. But after a little wait, we were seated inside for dinner on Friday night and got to order pretty quickly. The waitress was friendly, but she would disappear and we wouldn't see her for some time. The coconut shrimp was really greasy but had a nice, light sweetness to it. I ordered the spinach salad with chicken without bacon; unfortunately, the salad came out with bacon everywhere. Since I didn't want to wait for them to make another salad, I kept it but wasn't even apologized to. My dad ordered the salisbury steak which was meh and the roll was cold and inedible. My mom's buffalo chicken was really salty but was decent. Perhaps we shouldn't have expected much from this place, but we were fooled by the groups of people waiting outside. Lesson learned.

For some reason, this place isn't as good as I remembered it being. There actually aren't that many burger options, but there are other menu choices.I had the coconut shrimp and I thought they were delish! I love that they serve soda in a HUGE cup! We split a French Burger (blu cheese on the side), and the burger was cooked to order, but I didn't think the mushrooms were very good and I was disappointed. The outside seating is nice, but I really do think a lot of people come just because of the name...

Positive- Seating outside at the swinging tables, fries Negative- Crab Dip, Crab Cake We arrived at 10:40am during breakfast. We had to wait to be seated until 11:00am since it was not yet lunch.I figured we would have to wait to order but didn't expect to have to wait to come in. The crab dip was gross. It tasted nothing like crab dip and was served with whole grain tasting crackers. Crab cake? Huge amount of bread, small "crab cake" and leafy wet lettuce that I had to take off. The fries were good. My boyfriend ate 2 of his 4 gigantic mini burgers. Even the burger alone was to thick for my 2 year old to bite through. She stuck with the fries. The bill was $43.00 for 2 lunches, 1 appertizer, 1 soda, and 1 mixed drink. I was highly dissapointed :( Save yourself $30 go to Mcdonalds and spend the money at Jolly Rogers :)

Had some yummy lunch!! Girls loved their meal and my club sandwich was really good. Slow service though. I would go back.

Sat outside in the rocking tables which was great. Had a very tasty burger but the burrito was kind of iffy. Service was alright, beverages got refilled, food was delivered, etc.

Big Peckers- food as classy as the name and a clientele to match. This place makes Hooters look like the Rainbow Room. And even though you'll see a dozen empty tables, you'll also have to wait outside for 30 minutes surrounded by Jerry Springer Show rejects, enveloped in the ever-present cloud of Marlboro Menthols smoke that lingers in the parking lot. On the afternoon of my visit, there was an impromptu screaming baby contest going on. Lucky day! Besides being totally tasteless and bland, my food had random bits of unidentifiable animal meat in a meal that should not have bits of unidentifiable animal meat. Our waitress's reaction when I complained? "Oh. Heres the check." Eat here when every other restaurant in town has burned down and there's not a dumpster nearby that you could pick through. It's my own fault for conceding to enter an establishment that uses a cheap knock-off of Foghorn Leghorn as their mascot. I just really wanted to sit in one of the awesome rocking chair booths. (which I didnt get to do.)

Party of 6 during 2011 Bike Week. No separate checks & included gratuity of 18% on parties 6+. I had the burrito & my husband had the salmon BLT. He loved his & mine was good too. The service was good - not horrible & not amazing. She ended up ringing it up so we could pay separately, which is nice, but I don't understand why they wouldn't just do it separately to begin with (except that I guess they wouldn't automatically get 18% gratuity). Don't forget to check out the apparel store located by the outside bar.

9/15/2012 @ 3:45pm Entered. Met unfriendly hostess. Sat outside. Food underneath table. Hella flies. Asked to move inside. Hostess annoyed. Met awkward Russian server. Blasted in face with cosmotology canon. Ordered tea. Way too strong. Fried veggies. Gross. Sweet potato fries. Not sweet. Ordered burrito. Garbage. Prepackaged guac paste. Inside. Flies on toes. All in all great experience.

Decent, albeit somewhat generic bar & grill fare. The onion rings on a stick are really good but the burgers and fries evoke that "pre-made" or even "from-the-freezer-aisle" feeling. Even the Reuben always leaves me wondering if I might have missed something more interesting on the menu. But my problem with BP has never been the food. In fact I always felt I got what I paid for. My problem has been the increasingly younger crowd showing up at night. I don't know if it's the cartoon mascot giving people the sense it's a "family place" but I've seen crowds in there looking like Chuck E. Cheese on a Saturday afternoon! Come on people- does your eight year old really belong at an ocean resort bar & grill at 10:00 PM Saturday night? The mascot may be a cartoon but it IS still suggestive innuendo - not a "kiddies eat for free" sign. After two or three times finding the place with an average population age of 14 past eight o'clock at night, we've all but given up. You'll get comparable grub without the kiddies at Green Turtle.

Stopped at Big Pecker's on the last day of crusin weekend. Did the same thing last year as well to give the place another chance. However no more!!!!!!! It took 3.5 hours to have lunch. The hostess had not a clue. The place was not packed when we arrived. There was maybe 5 tables full. But hostess would not seat us,kept saying the cooks could not keep up with the people. Then a party of 15 showed up and they had no problem seating them outside and serving them also many other parties as well. This did not make sense to us. So after 45 minuets of waiting we seated ourselves. The server was nice. Order chicken salad sandwich and there was not enough chicken to make one chicken mcnugget out of. WOW they should never go broke here they are making plenty of profits. Nothing but bread and lettuce. I think they need to change their name to (little peckers) nothing big there except the wait.

For a place called Big Peckers, I was expecting a fun time, like Dirty Dick's. This place was just okay. We got to sit outside on the patio in the rocking booths which was pretty neat, but probably not a great idea while you're eating :p My friends all ordered pina coladas and I got the strawberry daquiri - pretty much the main reason why we came here to eat. DELICIOUS. We all wanted more but we figured one sugary daquiri/coladas was enough! We ended up a lot hungrier than we thought so we decided to have a late lunch/very early dinner here. For starters we shared a crab dip (good and creamy) and coconut shrimp. They were both good but nothing to write home about. For meals my friend got a chicken salad (meh), baked potato (meh to begin with) and another friend and I shared the crabcakes entree. It was good but I've had better. In terms of service, our server was just okay, nothing impressive. Overall the place was nice and had decent food but I was a bit disappointed. I probably won't return here but it was fun to poke fun at the restaurant's name.

Pretty typical "bar and grille" kind of place. It was a busy night so the wait was long but at least the bar was open and had plenty of space indoor and out. The crab cakes were average for what you get in OC. Also had a burger which was cooked just like I asked and had good flavor. But bun was super soggy so they should probably change their serving methods. Came with fries (sweet potato would have been a nice option). Beer selection was definitely lacking. Id go back but probably as a last resort.

LOVE IT! we sat outside and it was so nice on the swinging table! The food was awesome and we did not have to wait a long time to be seated! The only bad thing was the gift shop only takes cash..and we had card! Other than that it was awesome!

Definitely much better places to go in OC for bar food. Wings were so tiny I'm guessing they were taken from a pigeon, dove, or sparrow. The place just feels cheap, from the placemat menus to the balsa wood restroom doors that fly open like a bar fight is about to break out with the slightest push. Server seemed about as engaged as someone working at the MVA, and almost annoyed that we weren't drinking. My son and I ordered burgers, which were ok but overcooked, and my son's friend ordered a very bland and boring grilled chicken sandwich. For some reason the burgers came with fries while the chick sand came with chips. We missed that on the tiny type on the placemat menus. So when the food came, and we realized that he didn't get fries I explained our mistake to the server who brought him a side order and then charged me $4 for them! When the bill came and I asked about it, she said that since he didn't order fries at the time we placed the order, the "computer" wouldn't let her enter it in as a side. Whatever! I spent enough time in the restaurant biz to know that any change is just a manager away. As is normal in Life, it's not the money, it's the principle. So I deducted the fries from her tip. Final score: 2 burgers, one chick sand, one order pigeon wings, 3 soft drinks = $48 before tip. Ouch. Shoulda done Burger King and avoided the hassle. In all, we've been going to Ocean City for decades and this is just another lowdown tourist trap. Don't let the clever, double entendre name fool you. Keep driving.

My friend and I went here for happy hour. We were going to sit at a glider table, but we were told happy hour drink specials are only good at the bar. The bartender was nice and relatively attentive. We ordered coconut shrimp and calamari for appetizers. The coconut shrimp was good and was accompanied by a spicy-sweet chili sauce. The calamari was served with a horseradish sauce. The calamari was not the typical rings it was long pieces that resembled cheese sticks. The texture was not pleasant. We told the bartender we didn't like it and she took it off our bill. The happy hour drink specials were pretty good by ocean city standards. I had four rum and cokes that totaled about ten dollars. If you're looking for a chill happy hour spot, you can find much better places. Sitting inside at a long wooden bar is not where I would choose to be when at the beach. I'd have much preferred to be seated outside and still get the drink specials, but that was not possible here.

Went here for lunch and didn't have to wait. I got to sit outside on the swinging tables which is cool but they should consider cleaning up the cheerios on the ground because not everyone enjoys sharing their sandwich with 30 floes. Besides being eaten alive the food was quick and not bad. Prices are decent would come back if I had some bug spray.

5 of us were going to dinner, we had trouble finding parking, so I got out to get in line awhile while the rest parked. It was packed and there was what looked like a line outside, so I got in line. Only to realize later you have to tell them your name and how many in your party then just wait around wherever there's room. Wish I would have known that before standing there looking like an idiot for several minutes. There were some places to sit to wait, but not a lot, not for the 35-40 minute wait we had. We did get to sit outside on one of the canopy tables, which was nice because it was a beautiful evening. Our waitress (I don't remember her name) was very pleasant and efficient, we received our drinks quickly, our appetizers quickly, then our entrees after the appetizers were eaten, which we appreciated. Almost always, you get appetizers then the meal almost right away and you don't have room on the table for both. So the timing was good. I split the nachos with my sisters (there were plenty), the cheese was shredded and melted on top, it wasn't the liquid orange cheese that I prefer, but my sister preferred the shredded, so to each their own, won't hold it against them for that. The other toppings (salsa, sour cream, guacamole) all came in very little cups, so there wasn't a lot of that, but she did bring more for us if we asked. I ordered my burger with substitutions, which were all correct when I got my dinner and it was delicious! and huge! I took half of it home (possibly could have taken more home if I hadn't stuffed myself..lol) and it was just as good reheated! Lots of fries came with it as well. I think it was well worth it, and the price wasn't all that much more than it is at a diner at home. I think I spent under $20 including dinner, appetizer and tip. *One thing to note, apparently mayo comes on the burgers automatically, I wish I knew that I would have asked for none, but it was still delicious. That bathrooms were definitely not clean. That definitely subtracts a point, but considering how busy they were and how busy the bathrooms were, unless they have one staff person just to clean the bathrooms, I can see how they would get dirty very quickly. Overall, great stop on our trip to Maryland, I'll definitely go again...wish we had one close by! ;)

You go here for the swinging tables and that is it. The food is meh. My husband and I got burgers. They did the trick in filling our bellies, but I've had better burgers at chain restaurants, which I am not a fan of. Our 14-month old son loved the swinging tables though.

I have heard about this place so I went there for lunch.I wanted to try their awesome burgers and it lived up to its expectations.I had the burger with cheddat and bacon.it was so good.def going there again if I get back to Ocean City.

I went for breakfast. Service was a little slow, even though the place was pretty empty. My server was Russian or something. So he had a little trouble understanding me at times. I ordered The Big One. It came with eggs, potatoes, and a GIANT biscuit. It was great. Just wish they opened a little earlier than 9AM for breakfast

Not really sure why friends of mine like this place so much. Its average. I've had burgers, and your typical bar food here. The coconut shrimp here is pretty good though. The outside seating is the place to be since they have rocking booths which is neat. Inside is dark, sparse, and cold. Nothing really special.

    (2)
  • Kelly M.

Rocking booths are the only plus this place has going for it. Total gross grease fest. Nachos were gross, no cheese, nothing really on them at all, basically a basket full of empty chips. Frozen burgers and greasy fries...absolutely disgusting and will never go back. Our service was good which is why I didn't give it one star.

Solid place worth trying. It's one of my girlfriend's favorite places in OC, so we went there for lunch while we were at the beach. If you have the option, sit outside in one of the swinging booths. I'd probably be miserable inside. Luckily, OC wasn't too busy that weekend and we went at non-peak hours. I got the buffalo chicken wrap (pretty good) with chips and pickle and she got the salmon BLT (wow it was great!). The buffalo wrap was somewhat small but packed with a good amount of chicken. They gave the sauce on the side instead of slopped onto the wrap, which makes for a cleaner eating experience. It was a solid lunch but not an exceptional meal or dining experience. I would like to try the burgers there since that's what they seem to do so well.

We went to Big Pecker's for that touristy experience and because of the amusing name - you always see people around with their Big Pecker's shirts. But, unfortunately their food all just seemed like it came right out of the freezer. There are too many better places to go in OC. We went for dinner, so perhaps their breakfast is better, as some reviews have said, but there are too many great breakfast restaurants in OC that I've never bothered to go to BP again because of the very lackluster dinner.

Big peckers was your AVERAGE food joint that does not take AMEX. The onion rings were very good, not too oily or soggy. The Ruben I had was decent, the other food delivered 2 burgers and some coconut shrimp we okay. Nothing special. The size of the sodas where a good 32 ounces. The service was good. Again nothing special, the prices were a little high got the money. I suggest you share entrees to save money. Big peckers is a theme joint that wants to be bigger but just misses the mark. I suggest some large screen TVs would help.

  • Jen N.

Neat atmosphere.. Catchy name...Loved the swinging covered picnic tables for the outdoor seating. Food was ok. We had burgers. The roll, meh. Something you'd get in a 8 pack of rolls at the supermarket and it got soggy real quick. The waitress was very nice and checked on us regularly without being annoying. The only complaint I have is the hostess was a total bitch. It was exactly 11am so when I asked if they were serving lunch yet she responded "yeah" miserably and didn't even look my way. She should probably be cleaning tables and not greeting customers.

We went to Big Peckers on a Sunday evening in August. They told us the wait was an hour and a half. They have two bars though so an hour and a half didn't seem terrible. We stood at the outdoor bar for a bit and, though it wasn't crowded, the bartenders there didn't seem too interested in us. We moved inside. The Indoor Bar: - $3 Coors Lights (that's cheap to us) - Cool bartenders - No Photo Hunt on the bar game system Our names were called just 20 minutes later (probably a mistake but we didn't question this). We went out to the weird swing seats. They're kind of cool. They take up a ton of space though - seems like a silly gimmick. Our waitress seemed annoyed that we brought drinks over from the bar. She also seemed annoyed that she would have to translate the innuendo behind "Big Pecker's" into Ukrainian at the end of summer when she goes home and her friends ask how working in the States was. She seemed unhappy is what I'm sayin. We ordered the crab dip. It was good: more crab than cheese. But you have to serve good crab dip on the Eastern shore. Maybe a few too many onions in there. It came with some multi-grain club crackers. Nice. For our entree, we split the Chicken California which was advertised as grilled chicken topped with swiss cheese and bacon. That's exactly what we got. From what we could tell, no seasoning, no sauce, not even a little garnish. Chicken. Cheese. Bacon. The End. The cheese left a nice little puddle of grease behind, the chicken was a little overdone, and the bacon...I've had better bacon. We're on a healthy-eating kick right now so we eyed the burgers and onion rings at neighboring tables with envy. Not sure we missed out on anything though.

A family restaurant with awesome food and bar. Love the bartenders there. Not so much a place to get drunk at but the still has a great bar. Can't say enough about the food. If you ever got to Ocean City make sure you stop by this place. You wont regret it. And get your self a shirt!

Love the outdoor atmosphere with swinging padded bench picnic tables. Food was pretty good. Needed some salads after the past few days of "beach food" and the salads are plentiful and cheap and refreshing. The kids really loved the atmosphere.

  • Danielle M.

Outdoor atmosphere is fun - My family loves to play cards (must bring your own) on the swing tables while waiting for our food. Food is below average but cheap. Service is very slow even when they aren't busy. DON'T ORDER THE CRAB CAKES!!! I ordered the crab cake sandwich and received the world's smallest crab cake - less than half the size of the bun! No lettuce, no tomato, and prepackaged tartar sauce on the side. The salads are pretty good, but there is no healthy dressing option which cancels out the purpose of ordering a salad.

This was the 1st time ive been. We waited maybe 10 min and some how got a seat outside on the floating swing things.. sitting outside in the shade with my family was great, the menu was decent and priced reasonably. I was in the mood for something light and decided to go with a salad. I really didn't want any fried food, and asked if i could sub grilled chicken for the usual fried chicken on my buffalo salad. I got shut down by the waitress. That kinda made me mad, because they have a grilled chicken salad! It wasn't what I had hoped it would be. falls under the category of its ego is bigger then it can back up. I would say give it a try and decide for your self.

I admit it. I like Big Peckers. I am glad I waited in line for Big Peckers. We visited off season and were lucky enough to enjoy a warm evening on the patio. The comfy gliders are fun. During the summer, when it is hot, they spray mist to keep the patio cool. We had 2 burgers, an onion ring appetizer and 4 beers for 30 bucks. Cheap and yummy. The burgers were good, the onion rings were as well. Service was average. I am not sure I would want to deal with the crowds in the summer. However, the price point and food quality may be worth the wait for an Ocean City eatery.

  • Craig R.

This seems like a trend. All of the places in Ocean City are usually busy (really busy) on the weekends heh! This place was no exception. To beat the long line, sit at one of the two bars. They have one on the outside patio and one inside. Since the food comes out extremely fast (keep reading for more info.), you'll be able to get a spot quickly. The inside of the place isn't spectacular. It looks like a cheap Shenanigan's or Friday's. The bartenders were really nice and got everything we asked for quickly. The outside patio is really nice. They have "rocking booths". It's like a rocking chair, but the whole setup can sway back and forth. That's the coolest thing I have seen... ever. It was a shame the wait was an hour and a half. We started with a crab dip appetizer and it literally came out in two minutes. It was really good too. I don't know how something that good took two minutes to come out. For our main course I had the buffalo chicken wrap and my wife had the chicken tenders. The buffalo chicken wrap was awesome. It contained chicken tenders (in buffalo sauce), leafy lettuce, cheese and mayo. The chicken tenders did look like they weren't cooked correctly or something, but looks can be deceiving as these fingers were really good. Friendly people, good food, fast service, good drinks make this place a must eat at place in Ocean City.

Not sure why there are all these angry reviews...yes, there is a wait always. We go once when we are in oc for vaca. The burgers are the best thing on the menu. Tacos are basic but I do like them. Wings....would not get them. They are not good. Just get a burger.

I wasn't expecting all that much when I came here, just a tasty burger and some good french fries. Sadly I left feeling disappointed. The burger I got was ok, but the french fries were quite bad. Not hot, not all that crispy, and some of them felt very undercooked. I didn't come here looking for anything fancy, but I hoped they could get the basics right.

  • Jacqueline A.

I only had the burgers and fries, but they were great. The friends I was with also enjoyed their meals. I think they had the salmon burger. We came here two days in a row because we enjoyed our food so much. Yes, there is usually a wait, but it's not for long. The service was good, the food was great. I'll definitely go back during my next trip to OC.

Good burgers, chicken and fries. They get the basics right. Don't go there for seafood. Not that it is bad, just frozen, something you could get anywhere. They have a great outside area. Six person Glides to gently swing on while eating. It is amazing what a little motion can do for most kids.

just OK, nothing special, ate outside but did not have the misters going, which would have helped in the heat. the portions seemed small for the amount we paid, i got chicken sandwich which seemed pretty ordinary. quality of the food was good though, and waitstaff were good. good enough place, there seemed to always be a wait to get in, but nothing spectacular.

Stopped into this place for lunch. It was my wife and two kids as well as my mother-in-law. We decided to sit outside because the weather was great! I highly recommend sitting outside! The seats are also rockers which was nice. For lunch my wife ordered a buffalo chicken salad. She said it was delicious and it was a HUGE portion! I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap. It was a little too spicy for me but again the portions were generous. My daughter had the chicken tenders and French fries. They were not greasy like some places make them. The French fries were also delicious! They were seasoned instead of plain. The price was was also pretty good! A lot cheaper than home. I highly recommend this place!

If you're in the mood for bar food, this is the place. Cool outdoor seating too. They have these large tables that slide back and forth (great distraction for little ones). The tables also have their individual shade so you get relief from the sun on hot summer days. I also noticed misters around the tables, they must turn them on when it's super hot out.

  • Samantha D.

Very disappointing visit. I had the pulled pork sandwich. It wasn't anything spectacular but it was okay. I opted for the French fries instead of chips and they were actually pretty good. Crisp and well seasoned. My husband however got the prime rib of beef sandwich, and while the sandwich itself was just okay, the Au jus it came with was horrible. No flavor. And the chips that come standard on the side as just crumbled lays potato chips. The waitress was nice enough but for whatever reason it felt like she was pushing us to leave. She kept asking me if I wanted a box. The first time she asked I'd only had my food for a few minutes and had only taken a few bites. The place wasn't crowded in the least so I didn't understand why they were in such a rush to get us out. Would not return here.

Tried this place on a recommendation... He said they had "the best burgers on the beach." That will be the last recommendation I take from him, what a disappointment! There was absolutely no attempt to disguise their freezer burned frozen beef patties. My "medium-rare" was essentially a frozen beef patty defrosted just enough that it remained pink on the interior and FREEZING COLD. This was one of the worst burgers I have ever had. I have had better burgers out of a microwave on a plane or train. Nothing "Bodacious" about them at all. The only reason I am rating this with two stars instead of one is because the service was excellent and the fries and old bay wings were pretty good too.

My friends and I came here for a quick bite to eat. And that's exactly what this place is. Everyone enjoyed their food. Was it a fine dining experience? No. But for a bar with bites--not too bad. Highly recommend the pulled pork platter and the Chesapeake burger.

what this restaurant has above the others, is an unique outdoor setup. they have swings that can seat parties from 4 to 8 people, great for kids. We ordered a bunch of apps and their "bodacious burgers". the apps were average, the burgers were far from the best I have. This place is a tradition for bf's family, my first time. I won't bend over backwards to visit again, especially because it is so far from the condo.

This is an awesome little spot for outdoor dining. The swinging tables are just too cool. The service and food were great. However, I would like to see the staff tell the patrons to stop throwing food to the birds. Gross.

Peckers is always a stop on my list when I'm in OC. For the price, you can't beat it. You order a soda? It's huge! Every appetizer I've ever had is awesome! I do have a preference for the chicken tenders (love me tenders) or you can never go wrong with the mozzarella sticks. Burgers are hands down the best I've had so far in OC. my personal favorite is the Chesapeake Burger. Cheese, beef and crap dip. What's not to love?! Servers are always super nice. Outdoor seating on those rockers is the best! I've never been disappointed here. If you are here in peak summer hours there will be a wait, but for me it's ALWAYS worth it!

I want so badly to give BP four stars, but I just can't. Let me explain... BP is a decent restaurant. Nothing amazing, nothing awful. I've never had a bad meal here and the service has always been very friendly and attentive. The wait staff bust their butts running around the place and they do a great job at keeping up with refills and checking up on you. The last time I went I got a fruit martini and chicken tacos. I'm not really a martini person so I'm sort of biased, but it was really hard for me to drink it. Very strong and not so tasty. My boyfriend had a chocolate mint one and after taking a sip, I preferred his. The chicken tacos were good, however the chicken tasted like the frozen fajita mix you can get in a bag at the grocery store. I'm not saying it was bad, but when I go out to eat I expect something I can't make at home. Though, for $9 it was a lot of food. What wasn't a lot of food, however, was our appetizer. We ordered the jumbo shrimp and received about five fried shrimp on a plate. If we would have paid $4-5 I wouldn't be complaining, however for $8 I will complain all I like! It's not like they caught the shrimp and breaded it themselves! All in all, I think what makes BP so famous is the outdoor seating. The swing tables are so much fun and are great to chill in after dinner as you sip your drink. Could they use a little cleaning? Yes, but it's totally what makes the restaurant worth visiting. I've visited here every time I've come to OC. However, I think next time I may skip it and see what other dining options the beach has.

More like two and a half stars. Not bad overall. Ate outside which is nice. Service was ok. Wife got the crab cakes which did have a lot of crab. I got the prime rib which was just ok. No seasoning on it. Just a slab of meat. Meh. No dessert ordered. We can say we were there now, but most likely not returning

All in all, pretty average. I had the prime rib sandwich was decent, but a little under seasoned. Nothing a little salt and pepper didn't fix. Boyfriend got the ribeye steak, and he said it was good. I'd recommend the burgers.

I have no idea why anyone would eat here, much less wait in line for 25 minutes and another 15 minutes once sat for a server to even take a drink order. The food is slop and that is being kind. The coconut shrimp were dark brown on the outside and cold in the middle served with a sugary ketchup dipping sauce. The Rueben had rotten sauerkraut and lunch meat corned beef. The 16.95$ sirloin was the lowest possible quality of steak and medium was gray in the middle. The tacos were worse looking than anything you would find at a Taco Bell The cheese fries were fries with a pinch of shredded processed cheese microwaved on top. The salmon was frozen not fresh. The fish in the fish tacos were worse than fish sticks at a cafeteria at a hospital. I can't imagine anyone ever going back for a second time. I know we won't. Absolutely disgusting and a waste of time. Should have read previous yelp reviews before going. Just plain nasty. One star because at least the side salad was edible although the tomatoes were rotten.

Really good food and good service! 1/2 pound burgers whadddupp! Also have cool booth outdoor chairs that rock back and forth too so that's pretty nifty! Also got a tshirt that says "I have a big pecker" so score

Stopped here for dinner on our last night here, ordered a drink and it was fantastic and ordered a Mexican burger and it was to die for! There chili is really good. Prices were really decent. And eatting on the swings is awesome! Really enjoyable and relaxing.

We've been coming to Big Peckers for a long time. The burgers have always been good, I've tried numerous different ones over the years. While I prefer some over others I've never really been disappointed. Outside seating is very nice.

Food was excellent - the biscuit especially! Sweet without being overpowering. The service however was awful! After asking for a refill on coffee, it took 20 minutes for it to be brought by. Everything was really slow. Another couple actually left after sitting and waiting for their drinks for over 15 minutes. The place was not busy, plenty of open tables.

We were quickly seated at an inside table. Service was ok. Wings were the smallest i have ever seen. Flavor was good. Burger had overpowering grease flavor and not enjoyable. Music was very load for dinner time. Manager apologized and did adjust the volume. Its a step up from fast food but not by much. I doubt that I will ever return. There are numerous places to go in oc with much better quality food in a cleaner environment.

Greatest service we had in all of ocean city so far. Courtney was our server and was excellent. She checked on us frequently. The all American burger is perfection. Definately going here again.

Great restaurant for large groups or just a few people! Plenty to choose from on the menu and great helpful staff! During the warmer months, the outdoor seating is the best!

So in August, I was maid of honor in a wedding in Maryland, and much to my surprise, we needed to stay in a hotel because she never booked one for us! So I stayed across the street from Big Peckers. One night, we went here for something to eat and my oh my, was I shocked. No wait- we sat at the bar and played games. The Pina Coladas were to die for. And I got a bacon cheese turkey burger with onions and mushrooms on it that was seriously the best burger I ever had to date. I know its a far ride, but the burger was incredible. Go there! Now!

Our last experience (3 years ago) at BP was exceptional. Sadly, that is no longer the case. The 'award winning' slider burgers were no more than a frozen patty quartered (see picture). The steamed shrimp were eh but were served with a small prepackaged container of Kens cocktail sauce. Very unacceptable for a shore town with so much competition around. I ordered a kettle and cranberry (originally I ordered a special menu martini that they said they didn't have the ingredients to make) which was literally all cranberry juice and costed 2.00 more than the martini. The gliders outside are nice but sadly, this restaurant's food is sub par. Save your money and go somewhere else.

For years we went to Big Peckers .Last year I said not again .I made the mistake of going again at the end of June . Ice cold spots in our fried vegetables and several fatty spots in my chicken wrap .This won't happen again. Tom S.

If I step foot back in this place I must be a Big Pecker. We are sat on a swing that doesn't allow your back to have support and I have to get sea sick while eating and swinging. French Onion soup tastes like Lipton cup a soup. Ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap and they use Franks red hot sauce. Menu didn't say it was going to be like eating kerosene. Then to boot the hostess is smoking a cigarette in front with people eating. Wife's coconut shrimp was good but as you can see my meal was not fit for a woodpecker.

Food was okay. Just your average bar food. We ordered appetizers and entrees and the appetizer came out and before we could even start all the entrees were on the table as well which was poor coordination. We barely got to enjoy our food since our server was over every few minutes to ask if she could clear anything away which got a little old. It was nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy the rocking porch benches.

This is a yearly stop when I am down in OCMD for vacation. However, this year, I think it might be off the list. Let me preface that by saying there was nothing significantly wrong per-se, but here was my girlfriend & I's experience this time around: We had about a half-hour wait, which is not uncommon for this place. Every year we go we wait at least this amount of time. Once we were seating (their swinging booths outside are really cool!), we were waited on right away. The waitress didn't seem enthused to be at work, but we thought as long as she is good, it would be fine. We both got burgers, mine a bacon cheeseburger ("Oh My Back!") and hers a Chesapeake Burger (with crab dip on top). We didn't order any real drinks, just a coke and a water. When I am asked how well-done I want my burger, I expect it to be that way. Both of us said medium-well, and our burgers were practically swimming in juices. It was such a large amount that you don't want to put the burger down on the plate again, because the bun will soak up all the grease and juices. Not fun, since their burgers are HUGE, and I mean HUGE. (If you've ever been to a Red Robin, multiply their size by at least two). The fries were very good, and the cole slaw was not "homemade" as claimed - it tastes the way it does right out of the Dole bag from the grocery store. Our meals were quite a bit pricey for what you get - I think the two burgers with fries and slaw, along with a soda were about $30. The server didn't pay attention to us after the food came out either, just enough to bring the check IMMEDIATELY after we were finished, without asking us if we were indeed finished. All in all, very mediocre with lousy service...if the service was a bit better, I would bump it up to four stars.

Was in last night to watch the Ravens/Steelers game. Was very happy with our first bartender who suggested a drink for my wife which was so good that she had 3. When that bartender left or got reassigned, we got the bartender that treated you like a tourist....that was ok because I am used to that this late in the season. It's ok, because I tipped her like she deserved. The wings were ok...they were only 1/2 coated with the sauce and I was on blu cheese rations.....if that really was blu cheese ?.. I'll go back again but it's not my number 1 choice.....

i've only been there twice but so far both times have been great. the first time we went around dinner, so expect a pretty long wait. the second time we went at noon and we were seated right away. didnt have to wait long for the food to come. the only thing that bothered me was the flies. if you eat outside, the flies will definitely bother you. and flies are even on the inside from the door being opened. its pretty damn good food though, large portions and priced decently.

Had our annual family vaca in OCMD for the week and my wife and I decided on going to Big Pecker's to kick off the night...historically it was always good, and we love sitting in the sliding gliders out front...well, little did we know they plummeted into the abyss of "we don't care"... Started off when we were seated the table (and actual seat) was filthy...there was a ton of food all over, and the table had that special "what is that" stickiness all over it...felt awesome on my arms... Ordered a few drinks and the special martini from their martini list that my wife ordered was "out," or rather one or some of the ingredients were out so they couldn't do it...she switched to a Kettle & cranberry, and I had something with Sailor Jerry's rum in it...when the drinks came my wife's drink lacked Kettle One, it was so vibrant and red and tasted of no Kettle at all...I'm not expecting to get drunk off of a drink (I bartended for over 9 years so I know what a drink should taste like) but this was a joke...even better was the waitress explains that a Kettle & cranberry is $2.00 more then the martini my wife originally ordered, so to expect an up-charge...when I asked how a Kettle and cran cost more then a martini, she gave me a very pleasant go -uck yourself look...I said whatever, and then since it was $2.00 more could the bartender please put Kettle One into it...they didn't... On to the food...we split a 1/2lb of steamed shrimp and ordered the burger sliders...the steamed shrimp were lame...served with a little disposable cup of Ken's cocktail sauce... Even better were the "sliders"...I kid you not, it was a freezer burned frozen burger patty that was over cooked and cut into four pieces, and then said pieces were put onto some nicely old, stale buns...disgusting...when we looked at what was served, I was aggravated... All in all to go here I think you'd have not care about food or drinks and set the bar lower then low, only at which you can not be too disappointed when you are handed a bill to pay for the crap that you were just served.

My only complaint with this place was that we waited a long time for our food, but that's not too big a deal for me, especially considering it was pretty busy. I thought their fries were really tasty and warm. I got the coconut shrimp, and i loved the Caribbean dipping sauce that came with it! Would definitely go back for that. :) PS- any place you can get a shirt with a giant chicken on it is pretty awesome

  • Bethany H.

This place is nice but is essentially for groups of three or more. The only real reason people go to this restaurant is to sit in the swinging seats. The staff is reluctant to sit you at the swings in fear of larger groups coming even if you come at non-peak hours. Other than that, nice and what you would expect from a bar and grill.

This was my first visit!! Main item is budgets but there is much more on the menu!! Including seafood and steaks. My half pound bacon cheeseburger was very tasty. All the food was freshly cooked. There is outdoor seating available but it as too chilly to eat outside!! Overall you have to eat here. You won't ne disappointed.

Pretty good tourist trap. I've been coming to OC for 30 years now and Big Pecker's is a place to get a quick, tasty, and cheap breakfast, lunch or dinner. Their breakfast biscuits are really good and their french fries are seasoned well. You'll find more than just your typical bar food here and the atmosphere is great.

Came here for lunch on vacation and had a great experience. We were seated outdoors (where we hoped for) right away and quickly ordered drinks. We had salsa con quesa for an appetizer which was great and then sliders for our meal which were among the best burgers we've ever had. Definitely a great place to eat, don't miss out!

Eat outside with my family. Atmosphere is very good. Never been to a place with rocking tables before. Went inside to use the bathroom and inside dinning doesn't seem as good. Had a burger beer and salad. Burger was pretty good and service was good too. Overall would recommend however not raving about it.

Been to Big Peckers many times. Our wait was about 15 minutes which was acceptable. The restaurant was packed which is no surprise at 7pm. The server although swamped by many big parties arrived at our table within minutes. Our drinks arrived within a few minutes. Ordered the coconut shrimp as an appetizer. This arrived within 5 minutes. Tasted fresh and tasty. Would highly recommend. Ordered burgers, the Mexican and all American. These arrived when we just finishing the coconut shrimp. My burger the all American was cooked to perfection and was excellent! My sons Mexican burger according to him was amazing. All around a great dining experience

We were seated promptly by a friendly hostess. The pulled pork and country club sandwiches were very tasty as were the French fries. The Mexican burger was mediocre. Great service, we would definitely eat here again.

This is a strong 3 1/2 stars.. I did not want to come here because about ten years ago or more I tried it, was unimpressed and wrote it off as a tourist trap. Well, I was quite pleased with my visit. We sat outside at the swinging tables. The bloody mary was soo good! The potato skins were yummy, I am sucker for good skins. I got the tacos and they were good but the chicken seemed like frozen prepackaged stuff. My daughter had the chicken fingers and the fries were very good. The portions were generous. The pricing was reasonable too. I would come back for appetizers and drinks again.

The outside swinging tables are so relaxing. Decent food. Burger was pretty big but had so many toppings the bun was soggy. Flavor was awesome though!

Just an alright place. The food is typical bar stuff, burgers, wings, fries, etc. I had a chicken dish covered with crab dip. Nothing great, but passable. Basically what to expect in a shore town

Good solid bar food at a decent price. The French burger was really tasty. My husband liked the steak sandwich but could have had some more meat in the long hoagie roll. Getting limp lukewarm fries has become the norm in most places , but not here! The fries were shoestring, seasoned, crispy and hot. The wait staff were efficient and friendly. Will be back.

Love this place! Very friendly and super quick service. The food and drinks were delicious and very reasonably priced. We loved it so much we went two days in a row. Highly recommend and if I'm ever in Ocean City again I will definitely have to stop here!

  • Walter V.

Driving down the street, we were entranced by the name and once we saw the swinging tables outside, we were sold! Service was good, portions were substantial and it was really clean. I had cheese fries without bacon and the misfortune of ordering the crabcake entree. I say misfortune only because the platter of cheese fries was GINORMOUS! I couldn't finish them all, so I ate about half of them and then ate the crabcakes which were surprisingly good and light on the filler! The fries would have been tasty by themselves. Daughter had the Sirloin Steak, which was tasty and cooked and seasoned well. Her boneless buffalo nuggets, however, tasted like store-bought frozen nuggets that happened to be dipped in hot sauce. I would have upped my rating to "I'm a fan" if I had been able to find some vegetables on the menu. The only ones available were fried, so I ended up getting a baked potato with my entree, which became superfluous after I tried to plow through the cheese fries.

Why would anyone eat here? The restaurant is dark and dingy. The inside smells like a dirty bathroom and the floors, chairs and surfaces are not cleaned regularly. I asked my party to leave the moment we walked in, but was overruled. Fountain soda: tasted like water with some sugar sprinkled in it. Salad: was soft like it had been left out all day. Chicken quesadilla: was that chicken?! Was that real cheese?! I was sick after 3 bites so I stopped eating it. Appetizers are the standard frozen stuff you buy at a supermarket and heat up. Burgers were incredibly greasy looking. Ugh, what a mistake.

This place has gone down since my last stay in Ocean City. Back in 2011 their food was amazing. Coming back in 2012 there wasnt even a line coming into the restaurant like the year before- that should have been the red flag i should have listened to. We were seated promptly but the guests ahead of us were waiting to be seated for a party of two, not that the hostess should have that much weight in a review but it set a precedent for how the experience was going to be that night. Appetizers came cold but the burger was good as always - the cheesesteak was a little greasy. The calamari ended up giving me a stomach ache that night. I really wanna see this place be what it was in 2011 but it looks like its gonna be a long way before they make it there

Whenever my family I go to Ocean City (every summer), we always need to go to Big Pecker's at least one day... for breakfast. It's more of a burger place, so I don't know what made us go for breakfast, but we did. I think one of the things Big Pecker's is known for (or should be known for) is their biscuits. Do yourself a favor and make sure you get one with your breakfast... if your meal doesn't come with one, order it as a side (even if it's just to share for the table... believe me, they're big enough). These biscuits are about the size of a small child's head... oh, and they're delicious. Besides the biscuits, they have some other really great breakfast meals. I usually get the Policeman's Special, which is basically a heart attack on a bun (egg, cheese, and meat). I'm sure dinner's good here, too, but we usually save the waterfront, seafood restaurants for dinner. It does look like a good place for a burger, sandwich or bar-like food. Also, the seating outside looks nice... some of the tables have swinging benches.

    (4)
  • Stephen H.

Just "ok" Basically, it's burgers and fries. Downside: forgot my daughters order, took a while for food, outside seating puts you in close proximity to smokers Upside: waitress was prompt, burger was good and Sam Adams on tap.

Typical sports bar kind of food. I am not a fancy food eater, so this hit the spot. Go here for your burgers, wraps and some appetizers. this place will be one of my defaults in ocean city.

We stopped in for lunch during our vacation. We ordered: a Reuben for my husband, cheesesteak for me, chicken tender sandwich (sans bread) for my 4 year old and a crabcake sandwich for my 6 year old. First - I wasn't thrilled there wasn't a kids menu. Seriously - it's a burger joint at the beach - who doesn't have a kids menu? My cheesesteak had the world's thickest roll on it and tons of big pieces of Romaine lettuce. When I removed that - there wasn't much left, but what was there, was good. My husband complained that the corned beef on his Reuben didn't taste fresh. My 4 year old, who never eats anything, devoured the chicken fingers. And my 6 year old loved his crab cake, although the roll was stale. Lastly, our server - who tried her best but there was a clear language barrier- could have been more attentive, and gave us our bill that also included the table next to us. Thankfully, I looked it over before paying. Even with the bill correction, lunch was $50 - which I guess is par for the course in Ocean City, but with so many options, we'll be going somewhere else next time.

Old bay wings are awesome! The wings are small but there are a lot of them so it is worthwhile. The flavor is great - not too much but plenty to make it tasty. Crispy too! Atmosphere is excellent. Lots of TVs if you want to watch sports, friendly servers if you want to talk. This is a great place to have a meal, a snack, or just a drink!

The outdoor canopy slider was neat. I always saw the shirts and thought we would stop in to see if the food was any good. - Chili... not bad but not real spicy. - Burger was good but the fries weren't very good. Maybe cut potatos would work better. - Tacos were okay but the meat wasn't seasoned very well. I can do better with a pack of McCormick seasoning at home. They did give us big drinks and the food was generous proportion. Just wouldn't go back again though.

I can only comment on the breakfast and all I can say is WoW! This shocked the hell out of me to get such a great breakfast at a place like this. Its a shame the other reviews for lunch and dinner aren't so good. I can tell you every time I go to OC, this will be one of my new hidden breakfast spots. Btw, they sell most of their breakfasts with a 'Bodacious Biscuit'. I personally hate biscuits. But I tried this thing and it was so amazingly tasty! One person at my table ordered a Heart Attack Sandwich and they brought it on a hamburger bun. They really missed this one, it should be brought in a biscuit!

Walking in, the hostess was pretty rude and seemed overall uninterested in her job. The bar was very rowdy and people should have been flagged so we could eat in quiet. We were in for the dinner rush but our waitress was so nice! We were served promptly and the food was amazing. Overall, I would recommend.

You know, if I was 24 again, I'd probably rate big peckers 90 million stars out of 100. It was "that" good "back in the day". Maybe it was this particular night, maybe it's MY particular tastes, I'm not sure, but I can only really throw out a 3 of 5. Went with my parents on an oh too brief trip down E ocean and the first night was here. Of course, I had the BP's BODACIOUS burger and a couple of the caribbean drinks. The caribbean drinks came out in sort of smaller glasses that some places would use for water (I'm thinking Bob Evans), so i was a bit surprised about that. The drinks were made well enough though. The waitress was a bit confused on the Tequila sunrise my dad ordered (they could do it with Rum / Vodka, I can't remember which one she said), but the point is it's a TEQUILA sunrise. the VODKA sunrise would probably go great with the CHICKEN bodacious burger. I digress. The burger came out, was bodacious enough, tasted good, cooked to order. The fries get a MEH, but overall, service wasn't bad and, it's an OC staple, what can you do? But return.

My friends and I came here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. The front porch with the giant rockers looked so fun, but we were quite hot and hungover, so we opted for the inside, which isn't quite as nice and is more ordinary bar in decor. Our server was a bit inattentive, but we really enjoyed our meals. We split potato skins for an appetizer and they were excellent. I had a grilled cheese and fries and was quite content. My friends had sandwiches as well and were pleased (chicken club and chicken salad). I'd love to come back on a cooler day and sit on the porch!
